The Paralyze spell was invented by the legendary druid Arthiniel the Disconsolate. With advanced research in alchemy and the experience of the rest of the druids, Arthiniel developed a magical method to solidify liquids instantly. He found a practical application for his discovery-he learned how to spell this spell into a rune that could be used at any moment of battle, on an unsuspecting opponent. The spell causes the victim's blood to thicken, leaving him paralyzed and unable to fight or flee before the effect passes. Currently, this spell is not used very often, as it has many disadvantages. For example, its effect can be nullified by even the simplest form of healing magic, and many of the Tibian monsters are completely immune to it. To make matters worse, Paralyze requires a huge amount of magical energy both to create the rune and to apply it, making it an uncharacteristically expensive spell. Despite all these inconveniences, the spell has obvious potential, as it gives the casting party a considerable time advantage in battle.
