Name: Explorer Society Quest.
Location: Start in: Port Hope or Northport or Liberty Bay (but the Quest takes place throughout Tibia).
Reward: Crown Backpack, Ice Pick, Spectral Stone, 6 Orichalcum Pearls, ability to use teleport between Port Hope and Northport and Liberty Bay and Svargrond (using Orichalcum Pearls), ability to go underwater (Calassa and Frozen Trench), ability to buy Atlas and Crown Backpack.
Monsters: Rats, Dwarves, Lizards, Minotaurs, Orcs, Monkeys, Priestesses, Demon Skeletons, Elves, all Undead monsters, Banshee, Quaras.

Overall

This is a quite difficult and time-consuming quest. It can be partially completed with any level of experience, but some quests require you to traverse difficult areas such as Ulderek's Rock (Orc Fortess), Calassa, etc.

Getting Started

To start, you need to go to one of the Tibian Explorer Society headquarters. So talk to Mortimer in Northport, or Angus in Port Hope:

  • Mortimer/Angus: We will see if you can handle this simple task. Get the pickaxe from Uzgod in Kazordoon and bring it to one of our bases. Report there about the pickaxe.

To become an official member, you need to prove that you care and bring the Dwarven Pickaxe you ordered from the dwarves to the dig site. Go to Kazordoon and talk to the blacksmith Uzgod, who sells and buys weapons near the depository:

The blacksmith's order book is full, but if we help him, he will make an exception for us. He asks us to bring his Family Brooch (The emblem of a dwarven family is engraved on it.) in exchange for a Pick. It was stolen, but fortunately the criminal was caught. Unfortunately, the brooch is staying with the criminal in Dwacatra, a prison near Kazordoon. To get inside, you'll need the Key 3802 (obtainable as part of the Emperor's Cookies Quest).

Once you have the key, go down to Dwacatra. The entrance to it is located near the main entrance to Kazordoon. You will have to deal with a fair number of Orcs, Minotaurs, Dwarves and Cyclops.

Also watch out for stronger monsters, such as Minotaur Guard, Orc Berserker and Minotaur Mage.

Take your time and you won't die.

While you're there, ditch the hole near the well with a shovel and go down into it. (World Map)

Expect 3-4 Dwarf Guards and 3-4 Dwarf Soldiers.

The brooch is hidden in a box behind the door, take it and go to Uzgod:

There is also another method of obtaining a Dwarven Pickaxe. It is necessary in this cleu to go on a search to one of the southern mines of Kazordoon. With the Dwarven Pickaxe you receive, return the Explorer Society, and hand it over to the appropriate person:

As of now, you officially belong to the Tibian Explorer Society, and your rank is Novice.

Novice rank (Novice)

The 3 missions given below are for members with the rank of Novice. After completing them, you get promoted. The missions can be done in any order.

Mission: Ice Delivery

The mission involves getting ice from Folda using a special pick (Ice Pick). The ice is in the form of stalactite. It melts quickly (in 10 minutes) so you need to hurry when you get it. It is recommended that you take this mission from a representative in Northport, which is closest to the island:

Take the Ice Pick you will get by taking the mission and swim to Folda. Enter the main cave and follow the map:

The monsters you will face along the way are: Frost Troll, Rotworm, Minotaur, Minotaur Archer and Slime. Kill them and try to get the ice as quickly as possible so that the monsters don't have time to revive.

You get the ice sample by using the Ice Pick on the stalactite. Return to the Explorer Society headquarters and tell them you have a supply of ice:

Mission: Butterfly Hunt

In this mission, Explorer Society are looking for fresh species of special butterflies. For each butterfly you will get a Butterfly Conservation Kit to take a fresh body of different butterflies.

Ask for the mission:

  • Player: hi
  • Mortimer/Angus: Greetings, what can I do for you?
  • Player: butterfly hunt
  • Mortimer/Angus: The mission asks you to collect some species of butterflies, are you interested?
  • Player: yes
  • Mortimer/Angus: This preparation kit will allow you to collect a purple butterfly you have killed ...
  • Mortimer/Angus: Just use it on the fresh corpse of a purple butterfly, return the prepared butterfly to me and give me a report of your butterfly hunt.

First you need to find a purple Butterfly. They are the easiest to find. They can be found around the marshes north of Port Hope, the grassy areas south of Port Hope, in Ab'Dendriel as well as many other places in Tibia. such as in Carlin near the druid guild.

Once you have found and killed the purple Butterfly, use the Butterfly Conservation Kit on the remains and return with them to your employer:

  • Mortimer/Angus: Just use it on the fresh corpse of a blue butterfly, return the prepared butterfly to me and give me a report of your butterfly hunt.

You get another container, and the next specimen to catch is a blue butterfly. These are less common, but can be found near Port Hope, usually with purple butterflies. There are also a few near the north and south banks of Port Hope, along the river in the jungle, on a hill on Cormaya or on Meriana.

After killing and bagging the butterfly's body, return to return the container and pick up another:

Next to be captured is the red butterfly. Most people have a problem with it. There is no designated spawn for them, but they are spotted in the corner of the jungle north and south of Port Hope, in Trapwood, near the city, southeast of Banuta, and around the river in Tiquanda, on Vandura Island in Liberty Bay near the sugar cane.

After catching the red butterfly, take it to whoever needs it:

Mission: Plant Collection

In this mission you need to collect 3 different types of jungle plants. For each plant you will get a Botanist's Container to use it on the plants to collect. First, ask about the mission:

  • Player: hi
  • Mortimer/Angus: Greetings, what can I do for you?
  • Player: plant collection
  • Mortimer/Angus: In this mission we require you to get us some plant samples from Tiquandan plants. Would you like to fulfil this mission?
  • Player: yes
  • Mortimer/Angus: Fine! Here take this botanist's container. Use it on a jungle bells plant to collect a sample for us. Report about your plant collection when you have been successful.

The first plant you need to collect is the so-called Jungle Bells. They can be found on the ground along the south side of Port Hope, very close to the city and north of Port Hope. You can easily recognize such a plant by its distinctive blue color.

When you find it, use the container on it and return with it to the principal:

  • Mortimer/Angus: I see. It seems you've got some quite useful sample by sheer luck. Thank you! Just tell me when you are ready to continue with the plant collection.

  • Mortimer/Angus: Use this botanist's container on a witches cauldron to collect a sample for us. Bring it here and report about your plant collection.


Now you need to get a sample of the Witches Cauldron Plant. You can find them a bit deep in the jungle. The easiest way to look for them is along the river. Go west from Port Hope to the north side of the river and follow the river until it turns north.

After collecting, return with a sample of the plant:

  • Mortimer/Angus: Use this botanist's container on a giant jungle rose to obtain a sample for us. Bring it here and report about your plant collection.

Finally, you need to find a sample of the Giant Jungle Rose plant. You can find one near the Witches Cauldron Plant.

The rank of Journeyman.

After completing these three missions (in any order) you will be promoted to the next rank.

Mission: Lizard Urn

Request for a mission:

  • Player: hi

  • Mortimer/Angus: The explorer society would like to acquire an ancient urn which is some sort of relic to the lizard people of Tiquanda. Would you like to accept this mission?
  • Player: yes
  • Mortimer/Angus: You have indeed the spirit of an adventurer! In the south-east of Tiquanda is a small settlement of the lizard people ...
  • Mortimer/Angus: Beneath the newly constructed temple there, the lizards hide the said urn. Our attempts to acquire this item were without success ...
  • Mortimer/Angus: Perhaps you are more successful.

You have to go to Chor village and find a certain urn. There you will face a battle with lizards of all kinds. They are not strong, but there is a horde of them, so you'd better take a good team with you.

Go underground and defeat a couple of Lizard Snakecharmers who are waiting for you. Continue walking north until you find a door with a flickering handle, open it and get the Funeral Urn, take it to the Explorer Society quarters to finish this mission:

Mission: Beholders Secrets

Ask the mission:

  • Mortimer/Angus: We want to learn more about the ancient race of bonelords. We believe the black pyramid north east of Darashia was originally built by them ...

In this mission you have to prove that the Beholders have built the Dark Pyramid northeast of Darashia (the pyramid is now under siege by Minotaurs). This is quite a dangerous place, so you might need the help of a knight, or just a higher lvl character. An even better option is Invisible, as only the Minotaur Mage can see the invisible.

Enter this pyramid. The first level underground is inhabited by a lot of Minotaurs and Minotaur Guards. Go east and down to the lower level: On the next level you will find Minotaur Guards and Minotaur Archery, go west and north to the next level. Here there are a large number of Minotaur Guards, Minotaur Archers, and Minotaur Mages hanging around. Go north and down the stairs. Here you will find only one Mummy. Go downstairs.

There are no monsters here, open the door and take out the Wrinkled Parchment from the box. Take your find to the Explorer Society headquarters and return it:

Mission: Orc Powder

Pick up the order:

  • Mortimer/Angus: It is commonly known that orcs of Uldereks Rock use some sort of powder to increase the fierceness of their war wolves and berserkers ...

  • Mortimer/Angus: So we would like you to get a sample of the aforesaid powder. Do you want to accept this mission?
  • Player: yes
  • Mortimer/Angus: You are a brave soul. As far as we can tell, the orcs maintain some sort of training facility in some hill in the north-east of their city ...
  • Mortimer/Angus: There you should find lots of their war wolves and hopefully also some of the orcish powder. Good luck!

Your goal is to get special orc ashes. You have to go to "Ulderek's Rock" (Orc Fortress) in search of them.

Fighting various orcs along the way, get to the hills. Go up the ramp, you will meet a lot of orcs there and especially leaders and warlords. Five levels up you'll find a door with a glowing red handle and a chest behind it, open the chest and you'll find Orc Powder.

Relic Hunter rank (Relic Hunter).

With this rank, you can buy Atlases needed, for example, to complete the Meriana Island Quest at the Tibian Explorer Society headquarters and to complete The Undersea Kingdom quest in Liberty Bay (see below).

Mission: Elven Poetry

Items needed:

To start, ask about the mission:

  • Mortimer/Angus: For sure someone in Ab'Dendriel will own a copy. So you would just have to ask around there. Are you willing to accept this mission?

  • Mortimer/Angus: Excellent. This mission is easy but nonetheless vital. Travel to Ab'Dendriel and get the book.

Your task is to find a copy of elven poetry. First you need to get to Hellgate, the entrance to which you'll find in the Ab'Dendriel underground.

Once there, follow the path marked below (along the way you'll encounter monsters such as Skeletons, Ghouls, Rotworms, Slimes, Demon Skeletons, Elves, Elf Scouts):

Take the book and return to the Explorer Society (you can find a map of the escape route here) and say:

Mission: Mission: Memory Stone

Ask about the task:

Head to the island of Edron to Hero Cave. You will get there according to the map below (to kill: Wolf, Hunter, Wild Warrior, a couple of Bear and Wolf):

Go down the stairs to the bottom! You will find Memory Stone on the right side of the room. Return with it to the principal:

You will get a certain important piece of paper, with which you must go to Banuta.

You need to collect ectoplasm from any freshly killed Ghost into the special Ectoplasm Container you get.

Once you've done that, go back and return the full container:

You will have to get the dress of The Queen Of The Banshee, who lives deep under Ghostland and Isle of Kings.

The way to reach the queen is shown in the description of the Banshee Quest (maps #1, #2, #3, #4, #5, #6, #9, #10, #13 and #20 apply to us).

Talk to her when you reach her:

Go to Captain Max in Liberty Bay and ask about Calassa. Pay 200 gp for the trip and, while there, ask about the Helmet of the Deep. In exchange for 5,000 gp you will get it. Put on the Helmet of the Deep and jump into the water going beyond the bridge.

Go southeast until you reach the shipwreck. When you get there, use the Pick on the Wooden Hatch, then a staircase will appear. Go down. At the bottom will be 2 Quara Constrictors and 3 Quara Hydromancers.

Take your Helmet of the Deep and head to Tyrsung Island. Go to the ship located in the south of the island, put on your helmet and jump into the water from the plank on the ship.

Continue following the map until you find a frozen man and a helmet further on. Walk up and look at it and you will get a message that you found the frozen man and you should report it to Lurik.

You will need a Pick for this task. You need to go to the island of Okolnir and investigate the tracks of red dragons, from which the ice dragons are said to have originated.

On map 3 there are 4 Frost Dragons waiting for you, at the marked place use the Pick and go down, NOTE: there are 8 or more Frost Dragons waiting tan us. In the north of map 4 in the wall you will find a dragon frozen in the wall of ice, use the Pick and take Scale from a Frozen Dragon from the ground.

Return to Lurik with your find:
