Test 1: Barbarian Booze

Items needed:

Honeycomb.gif Honeycomb (at least one, but it doesn't hurt to take several or even a dozen)

Description:

Go to jarl Sven, who sits in the northwestern part of the large tavern in Svargrond. Talk to him:

  • Player: Hi
  • Sven: Be greeted, player!
  • Player: Test
  • Sven: All of our juveniles have to take the barbarian test to become a true member of our community. Foreigners who manage to master the test are granted the title of an honorary barbarian and the respect of our people ...
  • Sven: Are you willing to take the barbarian test?
  • Player: Yes
  • Sven: That's the spirit! The barbarian test consists of a few tasks you will have to fulfil. All are rather simple - for a barbarian that is...
  • Sven: Your first task is to drink some barbarian mead. But be warned, it's a strong brew that could even knock out a bear. You need to make at least ten sips of mead in a row without passing out to pass the test ...
  • Sven: Do you think you can do this?
  • Player: Yes
  • Sven: Good, but to make barbarian mead we need some honey which is rare here. I'd hate to waste mead just to learn you're not worth it ...
  • Sven: Therefore, you have to get your own honey. You'll probably need more than one try so better get some extra honeycombs. Then talk to me again about barbarian mead.
  • Player: Mead
  • Sven: Do you have some honey with you?
  • Player: Yes
  • Sven: Good, for this honeycomb I allow you 20 sips from the mead bucket over there. Talk to me again about barbarian mead if you have passed the test.
  • Player: Bye
  • Sven: May wind and weather be with you.

You are now allowed to take 20 sips from the bucket that stands next to Sven. Your task is to drink 10 sips at a time without falling to the ground (The mead was too strong. You passed out for a moment.).

Effect after failed attempt.

Barbarian-MeadOk.png

Effect after a successful drink.

If you fall over before drinking ten times (you'll know it by the fact that you'll have the appearance of a dead man for a few seconds ), then unfortunately you have to start drinking from the beginning.

If you've exhausted your sip limit, then tell Sven mead (of course, you must have Honeycomb with you) and you can already drink another 20 times. When you finally manage to drink 10 sips in a row, tell Sven:

Completed test.

  • Player: Hi
  • Sven: Be greeted, player!
  • Player: Barbarian mead
  • Sven: An impressive start. Here, take your own mead horn to fill it at the mead bucket as often as you like ...
  • Sven: But there is much left to be done. Your next test will be to hug a bear ...
  • Sven: You will find one in a cave north of the town. If you are lucky, it's still sleeping. If not ... well that might hurt ...
  • Sven: Unless you feel that you hugged the bear, the test is not passed. Once you are done, talk to me about the bear hugging.
  • Player: Bye
  • Sven: May wind and weather be with you.

Dostajesz w nagrodę Mead Horn oraz możliwość napełnienia go miodem z wiadra kiedy tylko zechcesz. Zrób to teraz i ruszaj wykonać kolejną misję.

Test 2: The Bear Hugging

Items needed:

Mead Horn.gif Mead Horn filled with honey from a bucket standing next to Sven

Description:

Your task is to hug a bear living in a cave north of the city:

BarbarianTest1.png

Once you get there, pour the contents of the Mead Horn on the bear's head and then "use it". The Bearhugger achievement will be obtained

Barbarian-BearOk.png

Correctly hugged bear.

Barbarian-BearFail.png

If you don't put the bear down, it will strike.

Barbarian-BearDone.png

After completing the test, no one feels like hugging the bear anymore.

Back to Sven:

  • Player: Hi
  • Sven: Be greeted, player!
  • Player: Hug
  • Sven: Amazing. That was as clever and brave as a barbarian is supposed to be. But a barbarian also has to be strong and fearless. To prove that you will have to knock over a mammoth ...
  • Sven: Did your face just turn into the colour of fresh snow? However, you will find a lonely mammoth north west of the town in the wilderness. Knock it over to prove to be a true barbarian ...
  • Sven: Return to me and talk about the mammoth pushing when you are done.
  • Player: Bye
  • Sven: May wind and weather be with you.

Test 3: The Mammoth Pushing

Items needed:

Mug.gif Mug of Mead (three pieces, you can buy them from Dankwart in Svargrond)
Dwarven Ring.gif Dwarven Ring (Not necessarily, but can be helpful while being drunk)

Description:

This time you have to defeat a mammoth you will find in the northwest of the city:

BarbarianTest2.png

Get to the Mammoth and drink three cups of honey and use the Mammoth (along the way you can meet three regular Mammoths you have to find one that doesn't have "Mammoth" written on it). You can now return to Sven:

Barbarian-MammothFear.png

No one smart would throw themselves at a much larger mammoth.

Barbarian-MammothWin.png

Unless he drank 3 cups of mead.

  • Player: Hi
  • Sven: Be greeted, player!
  • Player: Mammoth
  • Sven: As you have passed all three tests, I welcome you in our town as an honorary barbarian. You can now become a citizen. Don't forget to talk to the people here. Some of them might need some help ...
  • Sven: We usually solve our problems on our own but some of the people might have a mission for you. Old Iskan, on the ice in the northern part of the town had some trouble with his dogs lately.
  • Player: Bye

From now on you are an honorary barbarian, which gives you the right to gain citizenship in Svargrond and fight in the local arena. You also got an access to Okolnir and the ability to complete the Ice Islands Quest.
